About The Firm
Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder LLP is an intellectual property litigation boutique located in the Silicon Valley. Founded in 1998, Day Casebeer is internationally known for its high quality work in high technology IP disputes.

All of Day Casebeer’s lawyers are focused exclusively on intellectual property litigation and trial practice. The firm has extensive experience litigating and trying high-stakes patent cases in the fields of biotechnology, software, and other areas of high technology. Its record of success has led its clients to repeatedly engage Day Casebeer to handle their most important patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes.

Some of the firm’s recent engagements include:
  • Biotechnology pioneer Amgen has turned to Day Casebeer’s attorneys for nearly 20 years to handle their most significant patent litigation. In 2007, Day Casebeer was lead counsel for Amgen in a 4-week jury- and bench-trial victory against Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche that the trial judge characterized as “the World Series of civil litigation.”
  • Since 2006, SAP, one of the five largest software companies in the world, has turned repeatedly to Day Casebeer for major patent litigation, including a pair of actions scheduled for trial in late 2008 and mid-2009.
  • Additionally, the firm’s clients are increasingly relying on Day Casebeer to define and coordinate international patent litigation strategy. The firm recently coordinated a global effort for Angiotech, which included appeals to The Netherlands’ highest appellate court and the UK’s House of Lords. The House of Lords’ decision is being hailed as one of the UK’s most significant patent rulings in decades.
For the eighth year in a row, Chambers Guides have rated Day Casebeer among the top IP litigation practices, both in California and nationally. The firm is one of only a few small, independent law firms to achieve that distinction.
